Something about Maine always gives me that "back to school" feeling. My family goes to Deer Isle for at least a week every August, and although I haven't gone back to school for several years, I still have the sense that things start fresh once I get home. My whirlwind summer of traveling and weddings and home buying and moving only compounded that feeling. After a lazy week of bike rides, reading, eating, and shopping, I feel ready to get back to my real life.
A few iPhone photos since I was too busy eating blueberry pie to take real ones...
Adirondack chairs at low tide
Silkworms on the path to the cabin
Oysters at Eventide in Portland
Swimming at the secret beach my uncle found on the island (sandy beaches are hard to come by in Maine)
Exploring the cove
Unfortunately, I was rudely greeted by piles of unpacked bags and boxes when I got home. Also, there was no blueberry pie in sight. Maybe I shouldn't have been so eager to get back to "real life"...
